Deanne DeWitt
Deanne DeWitt was appointed by Governor Bill Lee to represent the 6th Congressional District. She currently serves as President of the Preservation Foundation of Sumner County as well as a volunteer in numerous community initiatives.
She received her degree in Industrial & Systems Engineering with a Business minor from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. She spent over 15 years with IBM’s Business Consulting practice.
Since moving to Gallatin in 2011, Deanne has worked full time on passion projects that center around community improvement. She served one term on the Sumner County Commission (2018-2022) and incorporated the Preservation Foundation of Sumner County in 2020, motivated by a need to restore the historic Comer Barn property. The organization’s mission is to connect hearts to the places and spaces that shape our community’s identity. The Foundation launched the Sumner Preservation Collaborative, strengthening the county’s network of historic organizations.
She has a long list of nonprofit board work, including leadership roles with the Gallatin Chamber Foundation, Rotary, Sumner County Workforce Development and her church, CIL. Additionally, she has and managed countless projects, grant applications, and fundraising events.
DeWitt is a passionate community development leader with a rare breadth and depth of experience in the public, private and nonprofit sectors.
