Ross Roberts
Mr. Ross Roberts was appointed by Governor Bill Lee to serve as a Faculty Regent from 2023 to 2025. He serves as the voting Faculty Regent until June 30, 2025.
He began teaching as a special education teacher in 2014. In this role, he worked with students from grades six through high school in a range of capacities from being a classroom teacher of record, and interventionist, to co-teaching in inclusive classrooms. In 2019, he began at Northeast State Community College (NeSCC) where he is currently an Assistant Professor of Education. Additionally, he holds a Tennessee teaching license with endorsements in English (6-12) and Modified (K-12) and Comprehensive (K-12) Special Education.
Mr. Roberts holds a Bachelor’s degree in History and a Master’s degree in Special Education from East Tennessee State University. In 2021, he began a Doctor of Philosophy Program in Education at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, that focuses on aspects of pre-service teacher education and address sociological, political, and historical aspects of the American education system.
He has been involved in various ways on his campus recently with leadership roles including Faculty Senate President, Chair of the Curriculum Committee, and co-Chair of the Poverty Action Committee among others. Mr. Roberts is involved in the local community in several ways such as, by serving as an advisor for several Teaching as a Profession Advisory Councils in local area schools, as well as working to build Pre- and Teacher Apprenticeship Programs with several districts in Northeast Tennessee.
He is married to his wife who also works in higher education and has two young children.
