Hollins and Adams selected to serve among esteemed group of professionals and industry experts
TBR – The College System of Tennessee is proud to announce that Dr. Tachaka Hollins, assistant vice chancellor for academic affairs, and Zachary Adams, assistant vice chancellors for academic affairs and workforce alignment, have been appointed to significant roles within two esteemed educational boards. Their selections highlight the system’s commitment to advancing educational excellence and workforce alignment across the region.
Dr. Tachaka Hollins has been selected to serve on the University of Tennessee at Knoxville College of Emerging and Collaborative Studies (CECS) Inaugural Board of Visitors. This new board aims to shape the future of CECS by providing strategic guidance, fostering industry-academic collaborations, and ensuring the curriculum remains at the forefront of emerging trends. With a diverse group of industry leaders, the board will enhance CECS's mission to equip students with access to emerging technologies and in-demand skills, contributing significantly to the economic development of Tennessee and beyond. Dr. Hollins is one of 12 distinguished board members selected for this role.
Zachary Adams has been appointed to serve on the Southern Regional Education Board (SREB)'s Commission on High Demand Career Pathways and Credentials of Value. The SREB Commission gathers representatives from multiple sectors across 16 states to develop a regional framework for identifying high-demand career pathways and related credentials. This initiative seeks to enhance the education-to-workforce system by establishing seamless career pathways that align with industry needs, ultimately improving the region's economic vitality.
The SREB Commission will be chaired by Governor Brian Kemp of Georgia and staffed by a key member of his team. The commission will operate from October 2024 through December 2025, striving to develop policies and practices based on labor market data and collaboration across educational and workforce agencies.
These appointments recognize the exceptional leadership and expertise of Dr. Hollins and Adams, reflecting their dedication to advancing educational opportunities and job readiness. With their vast experience in academics and workforce development within higher education, Dr. Hollins and Adams are poised to drive innovation and progress, making them invaluable contributors to these appointments.
The College System of Tennessee is the state’s largest public higher education system, with 13 community colleges, 24 colleges of applied technology and the online TN eCampus serving approximately 140,000 students. The system is governed by the Tennessee Board of Regents.
