Roane State Community College will host the 2015 Symposium on Powerful Teaching on Saturday, Feb. 28 at the college’s main campus in Harriman.

The symposium is for educators from all grade levels and will be held from 8:30 a.m.- 3:30 p.m. Topics will include technology, teaching apps, and K-12 content-specific sessions. Sessions for guidance counselors and media specialists will also be offered.

The keynote speaker is Dr. Jeremy Wendt, associate professor of educational technology and department chair of Curriculum and Instruction at Tennessee Tech University. He will discuss “The iPad Student in the Eight-Track Classroom: Technology and Today’s Learner.”

Dr. Wendt has a master’s in curriculum and instruction, an Ed.S in instructional leadership and an Ed.D in administration and supervision. He is licensed to teach grades 1-8.

Dr. Wendt’s presentation will cover the growth of educational technology and provide teachers with practical ideas that they can use in the classroom.

Registration is $15 and is open until the day of the event. Registration forms have been provided to area schools. Teachers may also register online at roanestate.edu/symposium.
