Vol State Presidential Search Advisory Committee Named
The presidential search advisory committee for a new president of Volunteer State Community College has been selected and will meet for the first time Thursday, Dec. 15.
The meeting will begin at 12:45 p.m. CST in the Thigpen Library of the Rochelle Center on the Vol State campus.
Vol State’s previous president, Warren Nichols, left in October to take the position as vice chancellor for the TBR’s new Community College System. Bruce Scism, Vol State’s vice president of Academic Affairs, was selected to serve as interim president until a permanent president is hired.
The search committee’s charge is to identify three to five finalists for the position of president who will visit the campus for interviews. Tennessee Board of Regents Chancellor John Morgan will then make a final selection for submission to the TBR for approval.

The TBR is the nation’s sixth largest higher education system, governing 46 post-secondary educational institutions. The TBR system includes six universities, 13 two-year colleges (including Vol State) and 27 technology centers, providing programs in 90 of Tennessee’s 95 counties to more than 200,000 students.
