Walters State presidential search public forum and search committee meet Feb. 24

The presidential search advisory committee for a new president of Walters State Community College has been selected and will meet for the first time Wednesday, Feb. 24, after a public forum to gather campus and community input.

The public forum will begin at 10:30 a.m. EST in the Student Services Building Lyceum on the Morristown campus. The Search Advisory Committee will meet at 1:30 p.m. in the same location.

Walters State’s current and third president, Wade McCamey, previously announced his plan to retire June 30 after leading the college for 10 years. The new president is expected to be selected before he leaves office.

The public forum will allow campus and community members to voice their comments about what types of qualities the advisory committee should look for when reviewing candidates. The committee will convene for its meeting at 1:30 p.m. to discuss the timeline and procedures for identifying finalists to become the next campus leader.

Both the forum and the meeting are open to the public and the press. The campus will also offer live streaming video of both events available at http://TBR.edu/WSCCpresident.

The committee will work with executive search firm Greenwood/Asher & Associates to help identify a broad range of highly qualified candidates from around the country.

The search committee’s charge is to identify three to five finalists for the position of president who will visit the campus for interviews. Tennessee Board of Regents Chancellor David Gregory will then make a final selection for submission to the TBR for approval.
