Tennessee Board of Regents to meet Oct. 31 to consider criteria for next president of TCAT Memphis

The Tennessee Board of Regents committee chairs will meet Wednesday, May 29, 2024, to hear informational reports and a new program proposal and preview the agenda for the full board’s next quarterly meeting June 13. The board’s Personnel and Compensation Committee, Finance and Business Operations Committee, and Audit Committee will meet after the committee chairs, to consider items that will be sent to the full board’s June 13 meeting – including recommendations on tuition and fees for academic year 2024-25.

The board governs Tennessee's public community colleges and colleges of applied technology.

Chairs of the board’s standing committees will convene at 8:30 a.m. CT/9:30 a.m. ET, followed consecutively by the Personnel and Compensation Committee, the Finance and Business Operations Committee, and the Audit Committee. The meetings will be held by teleconferencing and will be live-streamed and archived on the TBR website at. https://www.tbr.edu/board/may-29-2024-committee-chairs-personnel-compensation-finance-business-operations-and-audit (except for a portion of the Audit Committee required by state law to be non-public.)

The committee chairs meeting is informational, with no votes or official action. The agenda includes updates on workforce development activities, federal Title IX rule changes, and legislation affecting the system and its colleges, and a review of a proposed new associate of applied science program in nuclear technology at Roane State Community College.

Afterward, the three committees will review and consider their recommendations on proposals that will go before the full board for final action June 13.

  • The Finance and Business Operations Committee will consider tuition and fee recommendations for academic year 2024-25 and capital (major campus construction and renovation projects) budget requests for fiscal year 2025-26. The committee's recommendations will go to the full board in June for final consideration.
  • The Personnel and Compensation Committee will consider proposed revisions in TBR policies covering days of administrative closing, parental leave, employee discipline, and leave transfer between the College System and state and local education agencies; review and approval of president emeriti contracts, faculty emeriti designations, systemwide compensation strategies, institutional amendments or new compensation plans, and executive incentive payments.
  • The Audit Committee will receive informational reports on various audit matters, and review revisions to fiscal year 2024 internal audit plans, internal audit charters and the systemwide internal audit budget for fiscal year 2025.

The next quarterly meeting of the Board of Regents is scheduled for June 13, 2024, at Jackson State Community College. On June 14, the board will a host ribbon-cutting ceremony at the new Tennessee College of Applied Technology at Stanton.
