Vol State Presidential Search Continues Feb. 1

The search advisory committee for a new president of Volunteer State Community College will meet on Wednesday, Feb. 1, beginning at 12:45 p.m. CST in the Rochelle Center of Vol State’s Thigpen Library. The committee met in January and narrowed the pool of 35 applicants to a list of 12 first-round candidates. Since then, committee members have been carefully reviewing the candidates’ dossiers, checking references and collecting additional relevant information. The committee is expected to narrow the list further Wednesday to three to five finalists.Vol State’s previous president, Warren Nichols, left in October to take the position as vice chancellor for the Tennessee Board of Regent’s new Community College System. The search committee’s charge is to identify finalists for the position of president who will visit the campus for interviews with the committee and college constituents. Tentative dates for campus interviews are planned for the week of Feb. 27.After the interviews, TBR Chancellor John Morgan will gather feedback from committee members and make the final selection for submission to the TBR for approval. All meetings of the presidential search advisory committee are open to the press and the public as observers.
