Tennessee Summit
August 14, 2019
Friends:
A common theme arose in the survey results gathered after last year’s TN Summit. The call for training (the original design and backbone of TN Summit) was overwhelming. Over the years, this event moved to sessions that were brief in nature rather than an actual learning opportunity. You asked for it and we listened; training throughout the year! In an effort to address this requested call for training, we are pivoting away from the traditional TN Summit format and transitioning to a year-long series of training events. Starting in spring 2020, these events will be designed to offer more in-depth knowledge and hands-on experience for all staff statewide.
These training events will dig deep into how Banner operates, including sessions on Banner 9 functionality and technical infrastructure. Starting this fall, we will work with you and your staff, along with systems office staff and trainers from Ellucian, to design training sessions that meet your needs and to maximize availability so everyone can be involved. Our goal in this transition is to deliver the right training to the right people at the right time.
I know that many of you anticipate attending TN Summit every year - I certainly did. Although canceling the TN Summit for 2019 was a difficult decision, I hope this new format will continue to bring our teams together to learn, network, and plan for the future. As always, I welcome your feedback and look forward to continuing our work together.
Sincerely,
Stephen A. “Steve” Vieira
