Motlow State Presidential Search Advisory Committee Named; First Meeting Scheduled March 18

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (March 6, 2014) — The presidential search advisory committee for a new president of Motlow State Community College has been selected and will meet for the first time Wednesday, March 18, and include an opportunity for campus and community comments.

The meeting will begin at 1 p.m. CDT in the Marcum Technology Center Rooms 105 B and C on the college’s main Moore County campus in Lynchburg. 

Motlow State’s current and fifth president, MaryLou Apple, previously announced her plan to retire June 30 after leading the college for nine years. The new president is expected to be selected before she leaves office.

The search committee’s charge is to identify three to five finalists for the position of president who will visit the campus for interviews. Tennessee Board of Regents Chancellor John Morgan will then make a final selection for submission to the TBR for approval.

The Search Advisory Committee will begin with an open forum to allow campus and community members to voice their comments about what types of qualities the advisory committee should look for when reviewing candidates. The committee will then discuss the search process. The meeting is open to the public and the press.
