Board of Regents committee chairs & Audit Committee to meet Sept. 1

The Tennessee Board of Regents’ committee chairs, and the board’s Audit Committee, will meet Tuesday, Sept. 1, to review a number of items in advance of the full board’s next quarterly meeting Sept. 22-23.

The chairs of the board’s six standing committees will convene at 8:30 am CT, Sept. 1, followed immediately by the Audit Committee. The meetings will occur online through videoconferencing and are open to the public (except for a portion of the Audit Committee required by state law to be confidential). The Board of Regents governs Tennessee's public community colleges and colleges of applied technology. 

The Audit Committee agenda includes informational reporting on several audit items. The committee’s full agenda and materials are posted on the TBR website at https://www.tbr.edu/board/september-2020-quarterly-meeting.

The committee chairs meeting is informational, with no votes or action taken. The agenda includes an update on the SkillsUSA program and reviews of the draft agenda for the Sept. 22-23 quarterly board meeting, colleges’ spending plans for technology access fees, the Fiscal Year 2021-22 budget proposal submitted to the Tennessee Higher Education Commission, tenure upon appointment recommendations, faculty promotion by exception recommendations, institutional compensation plans, proposed revisions to TBR policies on records retention and disposal and academic retention and readmission at the Tennessee Colleges of Applied Technology.

The College System of Tennessee is the state’s largest public higher education system, with 13 community colleges, 24 colleges of applied technology and the online TN eCampus serving approximately 140,000 students. The system is governed by the Tennessee Board of Regents.
