Board of Regents to hold Strategic Plan Workshop Feb. 12

The Tennessee Board of Regents will hold a second Strategic Plan Workshop with TBR staff on Feb. 12, 2021, in which board members will continue discussing the current mid-cycle review of the 2015-25 Strategic Plan for the College System of Tennessee.

The virtual workshop will convene online at 10 a.m. CT, Friday, Feb. 12, to continue a discussion that began with the first Strategic Plan Workshop on Jan. 22. The session is public, and anyone interested in observing may contact Board Secretary Sonja Mason at sonja.mason@tbr.edu or 615-366-3927 for log-in information.

The Board of Regents governs the College System of Tennessee – the state’s 13 Community Colleges and 27 Tennessee Colleges of Applied Technology. The system’s current 10-year Strategic Plan, which runs through 2025, is undergoing a routine mid-cycle review – to assess progress toward the plan’s educational attainment and degree production goals, and consider potential revisions to the plan.

The review is led by a Strategic Plan Steering Committee composed of board members and staff, campus representatives, and external agencies and partners. The steering committee’s findings and potential recommendations will go to the full Board of Regents for its consideration, possibly by the middle of this year. The workshop is an opportunity for board members not on the steering committee to discuss the status of the committee’s ongoing work in more detail.

The College System of Tennessee is the state’s largest public higher education system, with 13 community colleges, 24 colleges of applied technology and the online TN eCampus serving approximately 140,000 students. The system is governed by the Tennessee Board of Regents.
