Board of Regents Committee Chairs, Audit Committee, and Personnel and Compensation Committee to meet June 1

The Tennessee Board of Regents’ committee chairs, the Audit Committee and the Personnel and Compensation Committee will meet Tuesday, June 1, to receive informational updates and review and consider a number of items in advance of the full board’s next quarterly meeting on June 17-18, including a discussion of the 2015-25 Strategic Plan Mid-Cycle Review.

The chairs of the board’s committees will convene at 8:30 am CT, June 1, followed by a special called meeting of the Personnel and Compensation Committee to consider systemwide compensation strategy, and then by the Audit Committee. The meetings will occur consecutively, convening after the previous meeting adjourns.

The virtual meetings will be conducted through Microsoft Teams videoconferencing and are open to the public except for a portion of the Audit Committee required by state law to be confidential. Due to the Memorial Day holiday Monday, anyone wanting to observe the meetings should contact Board Secretary Sonja Mason by 4 p.m. CT, Friday, May 28, at sonja.mason@tbr.edu or 615-366-3927, for access information.

The Board of Regents governs Tennessee's public community colleges and colleges of applied technology.

The committee chairs agenda includes a presentation and discussion on the mid-cycle review and update of the TBR system’s 2015-25 Strategic Plan. The Board of Regents is expected to act on the mid-cycle update later this year. Other items on the committee chairs agenda include an external affairs update, review of proposed new and revised TBR policies that the full board will be considering at its June 18 meeting, and a review of the draft agendas for the June 17 committee meetings and June 18 board meeting.

The policies under review are a proposed new Employee Discipline Policy and proposed revisions of the General Personnel; Firearms and Other Weapons; Undergraduate Academic Retention and GPA Standards; Sexual Misconduct; Procedures for Cases Subject to the Uniform Administrative Procedures Act, and Student Conduct and Disciplinary Procedures policies.

The Personnel and Compensation Committee will review and consider approval of the system’s compensation plans, in response to the General Assembly’s approval of the state budget for Fiscal Year 2021-22, which includes partial funding for higher education salary increases. The committee's recommendations will go to the full board June 18 for its consideration.

The Audit Committee’s agenda includes informational reporting by staff on various audit reports, findings and recommendations, systemwide internal audit updates, and a review of revisions to Fiscal Year 2021 internal audit plans.

The full agendas and materials of the two committees are posted on the TBR website at https://www.tbr.edu/board/june-2021-quarterly-meeting.
