Tennessee Colleges of Applied Technology are hosting National Technical Letter of Intent Signing Day ceremonies today for students who intend to pursue a technical career pathway in the 2018-19 school year. The ceremonies are similar to signing day events for high school students announcing where they intend to play college athletics. National Career & Technical Education Signing Day honors students who are reserving their spots in programs that lead to in-demand, technical career options with good earnings potential.

AT&T's contribution will provide up to $3,000 for each of the 27 technical colleges to buy new equipment in computer IT training programs, helping students learn skills in cloud computing, systems administration and network backups and recovery.

Kelly Young of Carter County is driven. She plans to become a master automotive technician when she graduates in December 2017 from the ASE-certified program at the Tennessee College of Applied Technology at Elizabethton.

Travis France was selected as the Tennessee Colleges of Applied Technology Outstanding Student of the Year Monday night in Chattanooga. France is a student at TCAT-Morristown and is from Newport, Tenn.
