The Tennessee Board of Regents (TBR) congratulates Dr. Jothany Reed, vice chancellor of academic affairs, on receiving national recognition and statewide appointments that highlight her leadership in higher education and workforce development.
On Oct. 6, Dr. Reed received the National Postsecondary Leadership Award from the Association for Career and Technical Education. The award honors her outstanding work in strengthening postsecondary education and workforce pathways across Tennessee and beyond.

NASHVILLE (August 8, 2023) – TBR – The College System of Tennessee has announced Trucking Tennessee, a statewide marketing initiative aimed at educating Tennesseans about the critical need for more Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) holders in the state. The initiative stems from a statewide plan to expand CDL training and make it more accessible to all residents through 14 of the Tennessee Colleges of Applied Technology (TCATs).

Tennessee community and technical colleges are not only the college of choice for students seeking short-term training for high-wage careers but are a driving force for businesses choosing to relocate or expand their operations in Tennessee. Strategic partnerships between TBR – The College System of Tennessee and local businesses have laid the foundation for a workforce pipeline that eliminates concern in finding qualified and highly skilled labor – an enticing incentive at a time when nationwide labor shortages are still high.

Fifty-one educators and economic development professionals from state and local agencies assembled this week to launch the second class in the TNTrained program, a new initiative of the College System of Tennessee and the state departments that help recruit new jobs to Tennessee.
