Session Description:
In fall 2023, four Tennessee community colleges are reimagining the community college experience. With grant support from TBR, pilot colleges are redesigning students’ first year of college by building workforce-focused certificates that students can earn in their first year of college. Workforce certificates are aligned with local labor market needs and are designed to be stackable with other certificates and embedded into associate degree programs. Alongside these certificates, pilot colleges are building new ways to engage students in pre-college career advising and career exploration.
Join us for this session to explore questions like:
  • How are colleges building clear and guided career pathways for students?
  • What kind of certificates are colleges designing, and how are these certificates embedded into students’ programs of study?
  • How are colleges revamping orientation, advising, and first-year experience courses around career pathways?
