HIP Statewide Conference
2020 High Impact Practice Statewide Conference
The 3rd Annual HIP Statewide Conference is an opportunity for faculty, staff, and administrators to come together to hear best practices in high impact practice implementation and assessment. A focus of the statewide conference will be to highlight ways institutions can examine closing student equity gaps and ensuring quality within HIPs. Breakout sessions will include presentations focused on TBR designated HIP taxonomies and will include reports from recent SERS and Course Revitalization grant recipients. Faculty and staff with an interest in scaling HIPs at their institution are encouraged to participate in this conference.

Registration numbers are used to confirm meals and other details with Franklin Marriott.

Please note that in the event of a no-show, your institution will be charged $50. If you are a no-show and reserved a hotel room, you will be responsible for that cost as well.

Hotel Information
Upon registration you will be asked if you need hotel accommodations. If you select yes, TBR will add your name to the rooming list and book the hotel room for you. You do not need to reserve with the hotel directly. After registration closes, you will receive a confirmation from the Franklin Marriott. If you do not receive that confirmation, but indidcated on your registration that you needed a hotel room, please reach out to heather.brown@tbr.edu to obtain the confirmation number.
- *Reservation cancellations must be made at least five (5) working days prior to arrival, and a cancellation number must be obtained. If not, your institution will be charged for lodging.
Conference Reimbursement Information
Institutions with multiple registrants should carpool together. An email will be sent to those attending from the same institution so they may coordinate travel.
- For a group of 4 or less from one institution: Mileage Reimbursement for 1 vehicle
- For a group of 5 or more from one institution: Mileage Reimbursement for 2 vehicles
- *TBR will reserve overnight lodging if traveling more than 120 miles one-way. You will indicate on your registration if you need hotel accommodations and TBR will add you to the rooming list. *You will not need to make reservations with the hotel directly
- Per diem can only be claimed if traveling more than 120 miles one-way AND staying overnight, all meals provided by TBR must be subtracted from per diem claimed.

Prior to joining AAC&U, Dr. Watson was the Director of the Center for Teaching and Learning at the University of Georgia (UGA) where he led university efforts associated with faculty development, TA development, student learning outcomes assessment, learning technologies, media production services, classroom support and learning spaces, and the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning. He also taught a range of courses on College Teaching, Student Learning, and Course Design. He continues to serve as a Fellow in the Institute for Higher Education at UGA. Dr. Watson is the founding Executive Editor of the International Journal of ePortfolio, the Executive Editor of the International Journal of Teaching and Learning in Higher Education and is on the board of directors for the International Society for Exploring Teaching and Learning; the Association for Authentic, Experiential, and Evidenced-based Learning; and the Reacting to the Past Consortium. His most recent books are Teaching Naked Techniques: A Practical Guide to Designing Better Classes (Jossey-Bass, 2017) and Playing to Learn with Reacting to the Past: Research on High Impact, Active Learning Practices (Palgrave MacMillan, 2017).
