Nissan has announced the launch of its Centers of Excellence program, in collaboration with the Tennessee Board of Regents, Tennessee Colleges of Applied Technology (TCATs), and several local schools in Middle Tennessee. The initiative aims to enhance students' career opportunities and support the growth of the automotive industry in the United States.

Construction has begun on the new $45.4 million Bedford County Higher Education Center in Shelbyville, the Tennessee Board of Regents Office of Facilities Development announced today.
With a projected completion by late 2025, the center will be the new main campus of the Tennessee College of Applied Technology (TCAT) Shelbyville. American Constructors Inc. of Brentwood was awarded the construction contract and Bauer Askew Architecture of Nashville is the project’s design firm.

Residents interested in rewarding careers as direct support professionals – as frontline supervisors, community health workers and caregivers in assisted care facilities, nursing homes, other institutions and home-health settings – may be eligible for up to $3,000 per year to cover tuition, fees and expenses at Tennessee’s community and technical colleges, thanks to a $3 million federal grant.

The Tennessee Board of Regents will hold its regular quarterly meeting next week at Chattanooga State Community College, with committee meetings on Thursday, June 15, 2023, and the full board on Friday, June 16.

The Tennessee Board of Regents appointed Laura Monks as the new president of the TCAT–Shelbyville. Monks has served as interim president since former president Ivan Jones retired Sept. 1 and her appointment as president is effective Nov. 1.
