In a special called meeting today (Oct. 20, 2023) , the Tennessee Board of Regents appointed Jimmy L. Wright as the next president of the Tennessee College of Applied Technology (TCAT) Shelbyville. Seven Tennessee community and technical colleges are receiving grants totaling just over $5.7 million to boost career and technical education programs, through the federal Perkins Grant program.

Students, faculty and staff at Tennessee’s public community and technical colleges collected 132,701 food items, including cash donations, for food pantries on their campuses, and food banks and other organizations in their communities, during the College System of Tennessee’s 23nd Annual Food Drive Challenge.

The Tennessee Board of Regents today appointed Dr. Orinthia T. Montague as the next president of Volunteer State Community College and Dr. Melody Edmonds as the next president of the Tennessee College of Applied Technology McMinnville, both effective Sept. 1.
