NASHVILLE (March 21, 2024) -- The Tennessee Board of Regents will hold its spring quarterly meeting March 27, 2024, at 1 p.m. CT at the TBR system office, 1 Bridgestone Park, Nashville, 37214. The meeting will also be livestreamed and archived on the TBR website at https://www.tbr.edu/board/march-2024-quarterly-board-meeting.

Residents interested in rewarding careers as direct support professionals – as frontline supervisors, community health workers and caregivers in assisted care facilities, nursing homes, other institutions and home-health settings – may be eligible for up to $3,000 per year to cover tuition, fees and expenses at Tennessee’s community and technical colleges, thanks to a $3 million federal grant.

Several presidents of TBR community and technical colleges attended Gov. Bill Lee’s 2023 Rural Opportunity Summit this week, an annual conference he hosts to address the needs of at-risk and distressed counties across the state. The summit brings together local and state leaders to brainstorm innovative solutions to these communities' unique challenges.

The Collision Repair Education Foundation, Audi of America, and Volkswagen Group of America announced that they have partnered to donate 25 Audi and Volkswagen vehicles to collision repair programs at Tennessee Colleges of Applied Technology in East Tennessee.

These donations will enhance the education of collision repair students and support the next generation of the automotive workforce in Tennessee. In a rapidly changing industry, it is critical that students have access to the latest vehicles and technology.

Students, faculty and staff at Tennessee’s public community and technical colleges collected 132,701 food items, including cash donations, for food pantries on their campuses, and food banks and other organizations in their communities, during the College System of Tennessee’s 23nd Annual Food Drive Challenge.

The presidents of two Tennessee Colleges of Applied Technology have been re-elected to the governing board of the Council on Occupational Education, and two others are members of key COE committees.

Dr. Carol Puryear, president of TCAT Murfreesboro, and Dr. Jeff Sisk, president of TCAT Jackson, were re-elected to new three-year terms on the 19-member Commission of the Council on Occupational Education (COE) during COE’s recent Annual Business Session.

Gov. Bill Lee toured the Tennessee Colleges of Applied Technology at Hartsville and Livingston Wednesday to review career and technical education with students, faculty and staff.
