Nissan has announced the launch of its Centers of Excellence program, in collaboration with the Tennessee Board of Regents, Tennessee Colleges of Applied Technology (TCATs), and several local schools in Middle Tennessee. Registered apprenticeships for career training are growing rapidly in Tennessee, according to a new report by the Tennessee Comptroller of the Treasury, which also highlights the important roles the state’s community and technical colleges play in the apprenticeship process.

The Tennessee Board of Regents Thursday approved tuition and fees for the upcoming academic year, capital budget requests for Fiscal Year 2025-26, and a new associate degree program in nuclear technology at Roane State Community College.
The board also appointed Heath R. McMillian as the next president of Tennessee College of Applied Technology Elizabethton, to succeed President David Hicks, who is resigning June 28.

The Tennessee Board of Regents has awarded grants to three community colleges to foster innovation in corequisite learning support models to improve long-term student success. Corequisite learning support enables students to earn college credit while also receiving the additional support they need to be successful.

At its June 13 quarterly meeting, the Tennessee Board of Regents will consider tuition and mandatory fee increases totaling 4.88 percent at the state’s technical colleges and from 4.58 to 5.37 percent (an average of 5.2 percent) at the community colleges, under recommendations approved May 29 by the board’s Finance and Business Operations Committee.

The Tennessee Board of Regents committee chairs will meet Wednesday, May 29, 2024, to hear informational reports and a new program proposal and preview the agenda for the full board’s next quarterly meeting June 13. The board’s Personnel and Compensation Committee, Finance and Business Operations Committee, and Audit Committee will meet after the committee chairs, to consider items that will be sent to the full board’s June 13 meeting – including recommendations on tuition and fees for academic year 2024-25.
