TCAT Memphis & Southwest reach out to displaced Vatterott & L'Ecole Culinaire students

The Tennessee College of Applied Technology at Memphis, Southwest Tennessee Community College, and the Tennessee Higher Education Commission are reaching out to students of Vatterott Career College and L’Ecole Culinaire campuses in Memphis that closed on Monday.

Vatterott Educational Centers Inc. announced Monday that it is closing all of its institutions in several states, effective immediately. It operated three campuses in Memphis: Vatterott Career College’s locations on Appling Farms Parkway and Dividend Drive and L’Ecole Culinaire in Cordova.

Board of Regents honors Gov. Bill Haslam, hears update on new Warranty program, approves new technical programs

The Tennessee Board of Regents today named the building housing the Tennessee College of Applied Technology Murfreesboro’s Smyrna Campus and Nissan Training Center as “The Bill Haslam Center” in honor of Gov. Bill Haslam.

The Board also approved a resolution summarizing Gov. Haslam’s work and accomplishments for higher education and Tennessee students – including the groundbreaking Tennessee Promise and Tennessee Reconnect programs – and expressing gratitude to him for his service as both Governor and chair of the Board of Regents.

Tennessee Board of Regents to meet Dec. 13. Agenda includes rollout of new Warranty for graduates of technical programs

The Tennessee Board of Regents will hold its quarterly meeting Thursday, Dec. 13, with an agenda that includes a formal rollout of its new Warranty for graduates of technical programs, revised budgets, new academic and technical programs, new and revised policy proposals and updates on various initiatives.

The Board of Regents governs the College System of Tennessee – the state’s 13 community colleges and 27 colleges of applied technology. The board will convene at 10 a.m. Dec. 13 in the first-floor boardroom at the System Office, 1 Bridgestone Park, Nashville.

Board of Regents appoints next presidents of Northeast State Community College and TN College of Applied Technology Knoxville

The Tennessee Board of Regents today appointed Dr. Bethany H. Flora as the next president of Northeast State Community College in Blountville and Kelli A. Chaney as the next president of the Tennessee College of Applied Technology Knoxville. Both will assume their new duties effective Jan. 2.

Board of Regents approves 25% increase in Drive to 55 target number of degree recipients at community colleges

The Tennessee Board of Regents today approved a 25 percent increase in the Drive to 55 targets at its 13 community colleges – increasing the number of degree recipients needed to meet the targets to 134,055 by 2025.

The new targets represent an increase of 26,667 community college graduates, from the 107,388 graduates that would have been needed during that same time period under the previous targets set in 2015.

Overall enrollment in TN community colleges increases 1.3% this fall. Overall adult enrollment up 17.4 percent. TN Reconnect enrollment is 14,692

Dyersburg State Community College

Overall enrollment in Tennessee’s community colleges for the current fall semester is 88,352 students, an increase of 1,132 – or 1.3 percent -- over the official Fall 2017 enrollment count, according to preliminary data presented to the Tennessee Board of Regents Thursday.
