The endorsements recognize the outstanding efforts of colleges and their college access partners in providing exceptional support to students through aligned and comprehensive advising practices.

Driven by a growing number of apprenticeship programs, Tennessee’s public community and technical colleges delivered 1.628 million hours of direct workforce training in 2022-23, the Tennessee Board of Regents Center for Workforce Development announced today. TBR colleges trained 50,589 students and served 880 companies through their broad range of workforce programs.

Several presidents of TBR community and technical colleges attended Gov. Bill Lee’s 2023 Rural Opportunity Summit this week, an annual conference he hosts to address the needs of at-risk and distressed counties across the state. The summit brings together local and state leaders to brainstorm innovative solutions to these communities' unique challenges.

After a national search and campus forums with four finalists, Tennessee Board of Regents Chancellor Flora W. Tydings is recommending Dr. Jeff McCord for appointment as the next president of Northeast State Community College. The Board of Regents will convene a special called meeting Monday, Aug. 8 to consider acting on the appointment.

A Tennessee Board of Regents Search Advisory Committee has selected four finalists for the next president of Northeast State Community College. They will participate in campus visits – including open forums with campus groups and the public – July 11-14, the next step in the selection process.

The Search Advisory Committee leading the Tennessee Board of Regents' search for the next president of Northeast State Community College has been appointed and will meet for its orientation session and a public forum Wednesday, April 27.
Board of Regents Member Miles Burdine will chair the 17-member committee. Other members are Board Members Emily J. Reynolds and Danni B. Varlan, and representatives of the college’s faculty, staff, students and alumni, and business and community representatives from Northeast Tennessee. During its quarterly meeting Thursday, the Tennessee Board of Regents appointed Susanne Cox as the next president of the Tennessee College of Applied Technology Morristown, effective May 1, and approved the search criteria for the next president of Northeast State Community College.

Dr. Allana Hamilton headed to college more than 35 years ago intending to become a medical doctor. Later, as a graduate teaching assistant in biology, and in summers as a state park naturalist helping visitors learn about the park’s plant and animal life, she discovered a love for teaching and changed her career path to education.
